Java Edition:Dolphin Wearing Equipment
Dolphins are mobs which cannot normally equip any items. However, there has been a method to get dolphins to equip certain equipment items.
Obtaining
Equipping
From 18w15a (1.13 Snapshot), the version that added dolphins, to 18w21a (1.13 Snapshot), dolphins could pick up certain equipment. Dolphins could wear any item that was native to an entities armor slot or offhand slot, without any restriction the player can drop any armor, mob head, carved pumpkin, and/or shield near the dolphin and if the items were close enough the equipment will be equip by the dolphin[1].
Dispenser
From 18w15a (1.13 Snapshot), the version that added dolphins, to 19w07a (1.14 Snapshot), dolphins could be equipped with certain equipment. Dolphins could wear any item that was native to an entities armor slot or offhand slot, without any restriction the player can dispense any armor, mob head, carved pumpkin, and/or a shield onto the dolphin and the equipment will be equip by the dolphin.
Observability
Armor, mob heads, carved pumpkins, and shields that have been equipped on a dolphin are unobservable. However, the player can kill the dolphin which will drop the equipped and/or held items which makes this feature also destructivly observable, or observable at the cost of destroying the discontinued feature. All equipped items have a guaranteed chance to drop as equipping an item onto a dolphin will increase the drop chance of the inventory slot from 0.085f
(8.5%) to 2.0f
(200%).
