Invalid Chorus Flower Configuration.png

Starting in 18w48a (1.14 snapshot), the chorus flower block began to act as a full block in many instances. A full block chorus flower allows blocks that require support to be placed onto it. Starting in 19w12b, even more support-requiring blocks can be placed on the top face of a chorus flower. In 23w31a, chorus flowers were changed to no longer provide support for other blocks. These block configurations are only possible in later versions using more powerful techniques including update suppression and chunk savestating.

This section is a work in progress.
Please help in the creation of this article by expanding or improving it.
To do: add more images for each support block!

From 18w48a to 1.20.1, chorus flowers acted as support for many different types of blocks. Even more support blocks were first allowed on the top face of the chorus flower in 19w12b. Since then, getting support blocks on chorus flowers has remained possible with more powerful methods including update suppression and chunk savestating. Support blocks on chorus flowers were technically unobtainable in 21w37a, because the End Dimension was impossible to reach making all chorus flowers discontinued.

Full Block Support Starting in 18w48a

Starting in version 18w48a, the blocks that chorus flowers begin to support include:

  • Torches and redstone torches on the sides (not the top)
  • Ladders
  • Levers on top and side
  • All types of buttons on top and side
  • Tripwire hooks
  • Scaffolding
  • All types of walls, fences, glass panes, and iron bars now connect to chorus flowers

Full Block Support Starting in 19w12b

In versions 19w12b to 1.20.1, all the supported blocks in 18w48a continue to work as well as additional ones on the top face. Blocks that chorus flowers begin to support include:

  • Torches and redstone torches on top
  • All pressure plates
  • Redstone repeaters
  • Redstone comparators
  • Redstone dust
  • All types of rails

23w31a Discontinuation

All the supported blocks listed above no longer work in 23w31a (1.20.2 snapshot) and later.

Update Suppression

Update suppression is a powerful method that allows almost any multi-block discontinued feature to be created by suppressing block updates. This can be used to make any support block rely on a chorus flower. This method works up to 1.21.6 Release Candidate 1 (present).
