Java Edition:Invalid Loot Tables
Loot tables are the loot received from mobs, blocks, and structures, and as any other feature they have changed over time.
Observability and other Information
This feature is unobservable without the use of commands, and this is also unmovable, because chests cannot be moved like in Bedrock Edition, and suspicious sand/gravel cannot be moved at all without breaking it, though moving them could be possible with Floataters[test].
Obtaining
In the April Fools' version 3D Shareware v1.34, flaming barrels would spawn around the world which had a unique loot table. The flaming barrels are just retextured barrels so they are preserved when updated. However, the only reference of the loot table that is preserved, are the items inside the barrel.
Stronghold Library & Altar Loot Table Swap
In 23w04a (1.19.4 Snapshot), with the 1.20 Data Pack enabled, chests that generate in the Stronghold Library Room will have the loot table of the Stronghold Alter chests[1].
Hoglin Stable Bastion & Bridge Bastion Loot Table Swap
From 23w04a (1.19.4 Snapshot) to 23w05a (1.19.4 Snapshot), with the 1.20 Data Pack enabled, chests that generate in the Hoglin Stable Bastion will have the loot table of the Bridge Bastion chests[2].
Trial Ruins Suspicious Sand
From 23w12a (1.20 Snapshot) to 23w14a (1.20 Snapshot) Trial Ruins would generate suspicious sand, this left those suspicious sand blocks with the Trial Ruin loot tables. In 23w16a (1.20 Snapshot), Trial Ruins stopped generating suspicious sand, though all previously generated suspicious sand blocks will preserve the loot table they had, leaving these suspicious sand blocks with an invalid loot table. This is Destructively Observable as the only way to view this loot table is by brushing the suspicious sand.
Default Suspicious Sand/Gravel
If the player obtains suspicious sand and/or suspicious gravel as an item, when placed the block will not be given a loot table thus it will give the player nothing once brushed away. This is Destructively Observable as the only way to view this loot table is by placing the block and brushing the block.
24w14potato Ruined Portatol Chest
In the April Fools' version 24w14potato, chests from the Ruined Portal keep their loot table data after updating out of 24w14potato.
