Java Edition:Item with Multiple Types of Protection
From 19w02a (a 1.14 snapshot) to 1.14.3 Pre-Release 1, Protection, Fire Protection, Blast Protection, and Projectile Protection were not mutually exclusive, allowing all four to be applied to the same item. This only works with items normally able to be enchanted with these enchantments, which are all armor items (leather, gold, chainmail, iron, and diamond) and enchanted books. Due to these enchantments' effects stacking with one another, armor with all four types of protection applied provides a very high level of damage resistance, giving rise to its more common name of "god armor". Villagers could trade items with these enchantments, which when upgraded allows for a renewable source of these items without item duplication. After updating these items, newer enchantments, such as Soul Speed, can be added onto them. Additionally, diamond armor can be upgraded into netherite armor in 20w10a (a 1.16 snapshot) and later.
Obtaining
Enchanting Table
The most simple source is simply enchanting items at the enchanting table. This will not increase the repair cost of the equipment enchanted, but not all combinations are possible to apply purely from the enchanting table due to both the level cap of 30 and conflicting level requirements.
Anvil
Anvils allow for the most control in the application of enchantments, as players can choose which enchanted books or gear they wish to combine. They are particularly powerful when combined with a developed villager trading hall, due to librarian villager's ability to sell almost any enchantment via enchanted books. However, they will apply an ever increasing repair cost as an item is worked more and more, and this repair cost will quickly exceed the anvil's limit of 39 levels. Due to the amount of enchantments that are required to be applied for the creation of the best possible equipment, it is easy to run into repair cost limitations. By applying enchantments in a tree structure, the repair cost can be minimized. See Gnembon's tutorial for more information.
Structure Loot
Many structures in the game could spawn with items with these enchantments. End cities can contain randomly enchanted iron and diamond armor randomly enchanted at a level from 20 to 39, including treasure enchantments. Strongholds and jungle pyramids can contain enchanted books randomly enchanted at level 30, including treasure enchantments. Other loot tables in the game use a random enchantment selector that only chooses a single enchantment at a random level, which does not allow for directly obtaining items with multiple protection enchantments.
Mob Equipment
Skeletons and zombies can spawn wearing any armor randomly enchanted at a level from 5 to 22, depending on the regional difficulty. The mob itself may be updated, which cannot be created in a later version of the mob has the CanPickUpLoot
tag set to false. Proving that a mob is wearing such equipment is technically indirectly observable and involves causing enough damage that the mob normally would not be able to survive, but in practice is nearly impossible due to the numerous enchantment configurations that are possible that each allow the mob to survive a different amount of damage. The mob can be killed and has an 8.5% chance of dropping each equipment item, which may be increased to 11.5% with Looting III.
Cheat Codes
In the April Fools' snapshot 3D Shareware v1.34, using the singleplayer cheat code MOREDAKKA will give player set of diamond armor enchanted at a random level[test].
Fishing
There is a 0.8% chance to fish an enchanted book randomly enchanted at level 30, including treasure enchantments. This chance may be increased to a 1.2% chance with Luck of Sea I, a 1.5% chance with Luck of the Sea II, and 1.9% chance with Luck of the Sea III. The chances can be increased further with the luck status effect from luck effect items. As these versions were before the nerf of AFK fishing farms in 1.16, it is very easy to create a setup to automatically fish and collect the loot.
Trading
Some villagers sell randomly enchanted armor items. The version range of multiple types of protection spans two trading eras, from 19w02a through 19w09a with pre-1.14 trades and from 19w11a through 1.14.3 Pre-Release 1 with 1.14+ trades. These items are randomly enchanted with a level from 5 to 19. These items are as follows:
- Diamond chestplate from the tier 3 trade of a pre-1.14 armorer
- Leather chestplate from the tier 2 trade of a pre-1.14 leatherworker
- Diamond leggings from the expert level (tier 4) trade of a 1.14+ armorer
- Diamond boots from the expert level (tier 4) trade of a 1.14+ armorer
- Diamond helmet from the master level (tier 5) trade of a 1.14+ armorer
- Diamond chestplate from the master level (tier 5) trade of a 1.14+ armorer
