This method gives access to features that are normally behind the cheats toggle such as commands or creative which may be dangerous. Perform at your own risk.
Directly updating any spawn egg from 11w49a - 1.8.9 to 15w33a - 15w33c (1.9 Snapshots) results in the spawn egg gaining tags for hand and armor drop chances. Spawn eggs must be first obtained in 11w49a (1.1 Snapshot) by temporarily going into creative mode. This tag does not do anything[test], making it an unobservable feature. The NBT will be removed from the spawn egg if updated to 15w34a or later meaning it is only discontinued in the three snapshots.
