EnchantedGoldenApple.gif

All Enchanted Golden Apples from <=0.13.2[test] through 1.16.10 will have their data value set to 1.[1] In all future versions, enchanted golden apples will only be able to have a data value of 0, meaning any enchanted golden apples from previous version will be invalid data value items. This bug was likely a result of enchanted golden apples originally being a data value 1 variant of regular golden apples. When the ID of golden apples was changed, the data value of 1 was likely accidentally left in.

Obtaining

Any method of obtaining an enchanted golden apple, either through crafting or loot tables will result in an enchanted golden apple with an invalid data value of 1. Enchanted golden apples can be crafted from <=0.13.2[test] through 1.2.13[test]. They can also be obtained from loot table chests from <=0.13.2[test] through 1.16.10.

Observing

The data value of the enchanted golden apple is not directly observable, however there are still methods to disambiguate it from data value 0 enchanted golden apples. The invalid data value variant will not be able to stack with the regular enchanted golden apple, and from 1.16.0.53 through 1.16.0[test] an invalid data value enchanted golden apple will not be able to be crafted into a Thing banner pattern.[2]
