There are several invalid data value saplings that are obtainable in both block and item form in Pocket Edition v0.3.2 alpha. In this version, the data value of a sapling that drops from leaves is dependent solely on the data value of the leaves themselves. This results in six different invalid data value saplings that are obtainable in this version. Data values 4, 5, and 6 are able to drop from naturally-generated oak, spruce, and birch leaves respectively, while data values 12, 13, and 14 are able to drop from the respective leaves if they are placed by the player.

The block forms of invalid data value saplings are obtainable simply by placing them down with their respective item. When broken, they drop data value 0–2 saplings depending on their original data value.

For the item form, data values 4 and 5 are both recontinued due to the addition of acacia and dark oak saplings. For the block form, data values 12 and 13 are also recontinued since the 0x8 bit is used to set a sapling's growth stage. This makes data values 6 and 14 the only ones that are discontinued in both forms.
