Shulker boxes are normally unable to be placed inside other shulker boxes. However, for a period of time shortly after the implementation of shulker boxes, they could be nested using hoppers.

In alpha 1.1.0.8 and 1.1.0.9, hoppers can transfer any color shulker box into any other color shulker box without restriction. In later versions where nested shulker boxes are obtainable, only undyed shulker boxes can be nested into any color shulker box; colored shulker boxes cannot be nested into other shulker boxes.
