Wandering traders could initially sell sand as one of their trades. The sand trade was then removed in 1.12.4, and then readded in 1.16.0.57, recontinuing the sand trade on wandering traders.
Obtaining
Wandering traders that spawn normally in 1.11.4 through 1.12.3 and in 1.16.0.57 through Beta 1.21.0.23/preview 1.21.0.24 (present) have a roughly 5/33 chance of spawning with a sand trade. This trade will be in one of the first 5 slots, and it will always be 1 emerald for 8 sand blocks.
