Incompatible Crossbows.png

Normally, Multishot and Piercing cannot be obtained on the same crossbow. However, from 18w47a (a 1.14 snapshot) to 20w29a (a 1.16.2 snapshot), pillagers from raids could rarely spawn with crossbows with both enchantments or duplicate enchantments.

Obtaining

Pillager Method

Prior to 20w30a, a bug existed where pillagers from raids could spawn with crossbows with incompatible or duplicate enchantments. The basics for obtaining this item would be to kill a very high number of pillagers. The most recommended way to do this would be to build one of the following raid farms in your world:

Chances for Drops

Pillagers can drop crossbows with incompatible enchantments.[1] Here are the probabilities for the following combinations of enchantments:

  • Piercing 1 + Piercing 1 = 1/16,000 (Duplicate Enchantments Removed in 24w09a)
  • Piercing 1 + Multishot + Unbreaking 3 + Quickcharge 1 = 1/3,500,000
  • Piercing 1 + Multishot = 1/409,000

Grindstone Enchantment Duplication

Using grindstone enchantment duplication from 24w10a to 24w11a (1.20.5 snapshots), it is possible to transfer enchantments from one item to another while bypassing compatibility checks for the enchantments on the items.
