Java Edition:Floating Pointed Dripstone
Stalactites require a block to be hanged on, otherwise, they'll become entities and fall. Some glitches allow a stalacitce to float without the need of any supporting blocks. Although pointed dripstone was added in 20w48a (1.17 snapshot), it was not obtainable in survival until a wandering trader trade was added in 21w13a (1.17 snapshot).
Obtaining
Update Suppression
Using update suppression, the player can remove the block above stalactite and it will not update the block. This method still works currently.
50+ Pointed Dripstone
If there's more than 50 pointed dripstone in one stalactite, supporting block can be removed without making it fall down. This works in 20w48a (1.17 snapshot), only before the pointed dripstone was obtainable in survival.[Downgrade][1]
Y Level 0
In 20w49a[test], stalactite that extends to Y level 0 floats once you remove the support block. This only works before the pointed dripstone was obtainable in survival.[Downgrade]
