From 20w13a to 20w17a, striders could have their NoGravity tag set to 1.[1] This allows the strider to fly, as gravity will never accelerate them down. The player can ride this flying strider, but a multiplayer server will continuously kick the player for floating too long. The NoGravity tag persists after the update.[2]
Obtaining
When striders would walk on lava in 20w13a to 20w17a, they would have the NoGravity tag set to 1. If they were saved to disk in this state, then they would permanently retain this trait, regardless of entering or leaving lava. If one wishes to move their strider up or down, methods that apply velocity such as fishing rods, pistons, and leads may be used.
