Multiple Protections were allowed on armor starting in 19w02a. However, despite being marked as worked as intended, the change was reverted after 1.14.3 Pre-Release 1. The multiple Protection armor also occurred with villager trades.

Obtaining

This simply works by trading with a villager that offers armor. There was a chance of having more than one of Protection, Fire Protection, Blast Protection, or Projectile Protection. This actually spans two trading eras, from 19w02a through 19w09a the Pre-1.14 trades and from 19w11a through 1.14.3 Pre-Release 1 the 1.14+ trades. This means that not only does this work with the diamond armor from an armorer like expected but can also occur with the enchanted leather chestplate trade on a leatherworker. The maximum types of Protection on a single piece of armor are capped at three,[test] with the enchantment level ranging from 5-19. Below is a small list of what armor items can be affected.

  • Diamond chestplate from the Tier 3 Trade of a Pre-1.14 Armorer
  • Leather chestplate from the Tier 2 Trade of a Pre-1.14 Leatherworker
  • Diamond leggings from the Expert Level (Tier 4) Trade of a 1.14+ Armorer
  • Diamond boots from the Expert Level (Tier 4) Trade of a 1.14+ Armorer
  • Diamond helmet from the Master Level (Tier 5) Trade of a 1.14+ Armorer
  • Diamond chestplate from the Master Level (Tier 5) Trade of a 1.14+ Armorer
