This feature uses downgrading which can result in crashes, data loss, or corruption, and requires specific versions. Follow the page instructions carefully.
In 24w09a, item NBT was changed to components, meaning that all items received the new data. Downgrading an item before 24w09a will delete the item.
Obtaining
First, an allay will have to be given an item post-24w09a. It will then have to be downgraded to before 24w09a, which will delete the item, but the allay will still like the player. This is because components did not exist pre-24w09a. This works similarly to vanishing blocks but with items instead.
