Stonecutters are only supposed to face east/west as an item, but can be mined to face north/south.
Obtaining
Place a stonecutter down facing north/south. Place any stonecutters that you have in your inventory inside a chest, and mine the placed stonecutter. It will be in a different orientation.[1]
Trivia
- When invalid data value stonecutters are placed onto regular stonecutter stacks, all of the items turn into regular stonecutters. This also works the other way around.
