Monster spawners are not intended to be obtainable as an item in Survival mode, but there has been a couple of glitches that allowed the player to do so.

Obtaining

Mining

In betas 1.2.3.3 and 1.2.5.0, it is possible to obtain monster spawners by mining them using any pickaxe. In addition, you do not need Silk Touch on your pickaxe.

Gravity Block Conversion

Another way Monster Spawners can be obtained is via gravity block conversion. This method can be done until 1.16.100.
