From 16w20a to 1.10-pre1, you could have a polar bear enter love mode by feeding it wheat. This isn't possible now, and will go away with time, making it a temporary discontinued feature. Love mode does not cause a polar bear to breed.
Obtaining
To do this, simply get a polar bear from 16w20a to 1.10-pre1 and feed it some wheat. The polar bear will enter love mode and display the red hearts, despite normally not being able to. The polar bear can be fed again after 5 minutes like any usual animal.
