Due to a bug in 13w06a-1 (1.5 Snapshot)[1], attempting to place any minecart entity would instead spawn a spawner minecart making all other minecart entities discontinued in this version. This likely occurs because 13w06a was the version which added the spawner minecarts, and from 13w06a-2 (1.5 Snapshot) to 1.21 (present) all minecart entities could be obtained again. Each minecart has a different start version depending on the version that they were added:
- The minecart was added in Infdev 20100618.
- The chest minecart was added in Alpha v1.0.14.
- The furnace minecart was added in Alpha v1.0.14.
- The tnt minecart was added in 13w02a (1.5 Snapshot).
- The hopper minecart was added in 13w03a (1.5 Snapshot).
