Wall signs as an item were obtainable in Beta 1.6 Test Build 3. They were deleted in 13w37a (1.7 snapshot). The wall sign will disappear from all inventories; the wall signs will not convert into the regular sign item. The wall sign items stack to 64, unlike regular signs. When placed it will always create a wall sign, regardless of where it was placed, however, it will not be able to have any text.
Obtaining
Beta 1.6 Test Build 3 Debug Chests
In Beta 1.6 Test Build 3, any newly generated world would contain up to 11 debug chests with every item in the game. The wall sign item was obtainable in the chests 3rd and 6th from the left in the 10th and 21st slots respectively, in stacks of 64.
