To do: Missing version range and unconfirmed if method actually works for this item

A Silk Touch pickaxe is needed for this method. In 1.0.0, start mining with your cursor on flowing water, and drop an item. You should start mining the water. Wait for the water to break, and it will drop as an item.

Mining Progress Transfer

Mining progress transfer is the process of replacing a block on the same tick it is mined, resulting in the replaced block being dropped instead, and can be done from b1.2.0.2 through b1.6.6.0.[1] To perform this, a block that is quick to mine and easily replaceable, such as snow, should be replaced with water while holding left click with a silk touch tool. There are also specific farms and setups that can be followed:

Gravity Block Conversion

The flowing water item can be obtained via gravity block conversion, which can be performed from beta 1.16.0.52 through beta 1.16.100.52.

Additional Information

  • When dropped, it will appear gray.
  • It acts identically to a regular water bucket.
