Java Edition:Invalid Data Value Dispenser (Item)
Invalid Data Value Dispensers are a type of dispenser with an invalid data value. This method relies on endermen holding invalid blocks as dispensers use data values to store what direction they are facing. This allows for the data values of 2 to 5. Using preserved data value trasmutation it is possible to gain the additional data values of 9-10, however this also requires converting your world from Indev. Invalid data value 9-10 dispenser is the most complex upgrade discontinued feature known, with a minimum of 4 required versions to get this item. Like most other invalid data value items, these invalid data values all converted to regular dispensers in 17w47a.
Obtaining
Data Values 2-5
From Beta 1.8 Pre-release to Beta 1.8 Pre-release 2 ;), an Enderman could be used to pick up a dispenser block. Each direction is a separate data value. Once the Enderman has picked up the block, the Enderman must be loaded in versions 13w16a to 15w32c to set the HealF tag correctly so it won't die on spawn. Then, it can be updated to 15w31a to 17w46a, where the Enderman can then be killed and the invalid data value dispenser can be obtained.
Data Value 9-10
Yellow cloth must be obtained in Indev using Indev item chests in versions Indev 20100124-1 to Indev 20100128. It can then be placed in Infdev 20100327 with a data value of 9-10 using preserved data value trasmutation. This block can then be updated to Beta 1.8 Pre-release to Beta 1.8 Pre-release 2 ;) where an Enderman can then pick it up. Once the Enderman has picked up the block, the Enderman must be loaded in versions 13w16a to 15w32c to set the HealF tag correctly so it won't die on spawn. Then, it can be updated to 15w31a to 17w46a, where the Enderman can then be killed and the invalid data value dispenser can be obtained
