Java Edition:No AI Mob
In several versions it was possible to get no AI mobs, these mobs have no damage sound, are unable to move, and cannot interact with the Minecraft world.
Obtaining
No AI Zombies
In 15w35a (1.9 Snapshot), all zombie types would spawn with the NoAI
tag set to 1 (true) even if these mobs were spawned from spawn eggs. This includes zombies, zombie villagers, and zombie pigmen (later become zombified piglins). Mobs with no AI will not move even if the block below them is removed, however they can still be moved by pistons and are damageable by most sources.
Conversion
From 15w35a (1.9 Snapshot) to 1.21.4 (present), if a no AI zombie villager is cured the resulting villager will preserve the NoAI
tag resulting in a no AI villager, no AI villagers have a lot more strange behavior then other no AI mobs, as listed below. No AI zombies can be converted into no AI drowned from 18w11a (1.13 Snapshot) to 20w10a (1.16 Snapshot) requiring no AI zombies to be updated from 15w35a, however, from 20w11a (1.16 Snapshot) to 1.21.4 (present), no AI zombies no-longer take damage from drowning.
No AI Villager Behavior
- Can be a nitwit villager.
- Will not use a workstation, and will not sleep in beds.
- Will have a random profession and two trades (1.14+)
- Will not switch profession even if a workstation is placed nearby.
- Will not refresh trades as workstations and beds can not be used.
- Will not level up when traded with.
- Trades can be permanently locked once the first two are locked.
- Trades can be unlocked by infecting and then curing the villager.
- When spawned with commands, no AI villagers will have no profession.
- When spawned with commands, no AI zombie villagers will have a profession, or be a nitwit.
20w14∞ Iron Golems
In the April Fools' version 20w14∞, in the dimension "missing" at x=0 and z=0, there are two no AI iron golems. Only two of these iron golems can not be obtained without deleting the saved data for the "missing" dimension. The only way to preserve these iron golems is to transport them into a vanilla dimension, the iron golems can not travel through Nether portals and as such need to be pushed into an End portal using pistons as creating an End portal inside the iron golems will not teleport them. The End portal can be created by obtaining End portal frames.
23w13a_or_b Votes
The April Fools' version 23w13a_or_b introduced several methods to obtain normally unobtainable features
- The
midas_touch
vote, when applied, will turn all mobs that touch the player into golden mobs.
The midas_touch
vote allows the player to touch mobs and turn them into golden mobs, golden mobs have there NoAI
and Silent
tags to 1 (true). These mobs preserve this data when updated allowing any mob in the game to have no AI and to be silent.
