Java Edition:Phantom Enchanted Equipment Mobs
In 13w36a, mobs spawning with enchanted equipment would have the enchant tag on the equipment but no actual enchantment.[1] This means that after updating from 13w36a, these mobs would have discontinued equipment. This affects any mobs that can spawn with enchanted gear.
Obtaining
To obtain, a mob with enchanted equipment (visible via the enchantment glint on armor and tools), must spawn in. You can then nametag the mob to make sure that it does not de-spawn. Alternatively, phantom enchanted equipment can be dropped on to mobs that have CanPickUpLoot:1b to allow the mob to pick up the phantom enchanted equipment.
Updating
In 1.11 pre-1 and above, the mobs' equipped items will lose their enchantment glint, but the discontinued NBT will still be present, making mobs equipped with them semi-observable.
The equipment of mobs loses its phantom enchantments when updating into 24w09a-24w13a as it was not converted correctly during this time, though if upgraded directly to 24w14a it will be converted to item components correctly and can be preserved.
