Types of Discontinued Features

This page contains a list of all discontinued feature types. A discontinued feature is a feature in Minecraft that can be updated to a version where it is no longer obtainable. Discontinued features can be categorized in many ways including what type they are, when they were available, and whether they still exist.
Feature Type
- Discontinued Blocks - discontinued features using the blocks of the world
- Discontinued Single Blocks - discontinued block that is a single block that should not exist
- Discontinued Block Configuration - discontinued feature not because of a single block but because of a combination of blocks that are in a usually unobtainable fashion
- Discontinued Liquid Blocks - lava and water in abnormal states
- Discontinued Entities - entity that is no longer obtainable
- Discontinued Trades - has to do with a villager trade
- Discontinued Mobs - mob that is no longer obtainable
- Discontinued Non-mob - entities such as minecarts and paintings that aren't mobs
- Discontinued Entity Stacks or Jockeys - entities riding on top of one another to create a unique entity combination
- Falling Block Entity Discontinued Feature - entities that are falling blocks, like sand, gravel, etc, except discontinued
- Discontinued Items - items that are no longer obtainable
- Discontinued Slot Data - items in a container or inventory where they shouldn't be

- Item Count Discontinued Feature - items with discontinued count values
- Overstacked Item Discontinued Feature - items that are above the stack limit of an item
- Understacked Item Discontinued Feature - items that have a count value that is negative, includes 0 stacked items
- Discontinued Block Items - items that have an id of a block that aren't normally obtainable
- Player/Mob Data Discontinued Feature - data stored with the player
- Armor Slot Discontinued Feature - items in the player's (or other mob's) armor slots
- Effect Discontinued Feature - potion effects, are usually temporary
- Statistic Discontinued Feature - discontinued statistics
- World State Discontinued Feature - statuses of the entire world
- Level.dat Discontinued Feature - player statuses that effect the world
- Region File Discontinued Feature - region file statuses that effect the actual world
- Overworld - same as above but for the overworld dimension
- The Nether - same as above but for the nether dimension
- The End - same as above but for the end dimension
- Terrain Discontinued Feature - terrain of the world, discontinued status is conditional
- File Discontinued Feature - files within the world folder that are discontinued but will have no effect in-game
- Command/Creative Discontinued Feature - features that rely on using commands or creative mode
Version Information
- Release Discontinued Feature - player can get this discontinued feature in a full release of the game
- Snapshot Discontinued Feature - player must go to a snapshot, pre-release, or combat test to obtain this feature
- Development Discontinued Feature - player must go to a version before 1.0.0 to obtain this feature
- April Fools' Discontinued Feature - player must go to a April Fools' joke version
- Downgrade Discontinued Feature - player must downgrade a world
- Nonstandard Java Discontinued Feature - player must go to a Mojang Official Version of the game other than Normal Java (Either Minecraft China or MinecraftEdu)
- Map Discontinued Feature - player must obtain this feature by beginning in a Mojang built/endorsed world
- Official Map Discontinued Feature - feature that uses an official map built by Mojang
- Endorsed Map Discontinued Feature - feature that uses a map selected by Mojang to go into game, for example, maps chosen to go into Minecraft Realms
- Minecraft: China Edition Discontinued Feature feature that uses Minecraft: China Edition
- MinecraftEdu Edition Discontinued Feature feature that uses MinecraftEdu Edition
- Map Discontinued Feature - player must obtain this feature by beginning in a Mojang built/endorsed world
Persistance of Features
- Current Discontinued Feature - features that still exist in the current version of the game
- Recontinued Feature - feature that was discontinued but then become obtainable once again
- Double Recontinued Feature - feature that was unobtainable during two version spans
- Deleted Discontinued Feature - feature was removed from the world in its entirety
- Converted Discontinued Feature - feature had its discontinued aspect removed via item converting to normal item, still exists as normal item
Observability
- Direct Observable Discontinued Feature - discontinued feature can be directly observed
- Indirect Observable Discontinued Feature - discontinued feature can be observed but only using indirect tests such as if items stack
- Semi-Observable Discontinued Feature - discontinued feature that could be observed but only once by destroying the discontinued feature
- Unobservable Discontinued Feature - discontinued feature that can only be observed by copying the world and running a third party software or commands to check
Other
- Temporary Discontinued Feature - feature can be brought into newer versions but has a time limit to how long it will last
- Movable Discontinued Feature - feature that can be moved
- Unmovable Discontinued Feature - feature that cannot be moved
- Exclusive Discontinued Feature - features that are mutually exclusive in a world
- Intentional Discontinued Feature - feature that was intentionally possible in the past
- Unintentional Discontinued Feature - feature that uses a bug from the past
- Combo Discontinued Feature - taking one discontinued feature and combining it with another
- Double Discontinued Feature - two discontinued features combined into one thing
- Triple Discontinued Feature - combo of 3 discontinued features... etc etc
- Antidiscontinued Feature - reverse of a discontinued feature, is available in newer versions but not older ones
- Coordinate Discontinued Feature - the feature can be normally found in the world but its coordinates make it discontinued
- Conditional Discontinued Feature - a feature that is only discontinued if a certain world state is in effect (for example phantoms if 19w36a False Game Rules are active)
