The fix of a bug relating to zombie villagers dismounting minecarts when curing resulted in the curing of baby zombie villagers riding chickens resulting in a villager riding a chicken. These cured villagers can then grow up into an adult villager and be infected, resulting in an adult zombie villager riding a chicken. A bug introduced in 24w36a (a 1.21.2 snapshot) resulted in this peculiar feature being unobtainable for a short time. They were recontinued in 1.21.2 Pre-Release 3 when the bug was fixed.

Obtaining

Curing and Infecting

Due to a bug[1], from 1.14 to 1.16.2 Pre-release 1 zombie villagers would dismount any ridden entities when cured. However, Mojang considered the dismounting of minecarts when curing a bug. With how the bug was fixed, curing a zombie villager no longer dismounted it from its ridden entity regardless of what that entity was, allowing zombie villagers riding chickens to still be riding their chicken upon curing.

After obtaining a baby villager chicken jockey, letting it grow into an adult and then infecting the adult will result in an adult zombie villager riding a chicken.

Warning: April Fools'
This feature requires April Fools' versions which may require file renaming or file deletion to load. See the Loading April Fools' Versions tutorial for more information.

In the April Fools' snapshot22w13oneBlockAtATime, the player is able to pick up nearly any entity in the game. Picking up these mobs will stack them on top of the players head, each added mob will be riding the mob before it, the player is then able to throw the stacked mobs to let go of them. This can be used to obtain an adult zombie villager chicken jockey. Do note that chickens are easily killed doing this, so it is advised to create a stack of 3 chickens.
