Java Edition:Jungle Sapling
Jungle Saplings were added in 12w04a (a 1.2.1 snapshot), however its data value was obtainable before this update using glitches making it a recontinued feature. These saplings visually look identical to oak saplings in versions Beta 1.5 to 12w03a. However, they will not stack with them.
Obtaining
Transmutation
From Indev 0.31 20100124 to Indev 0.31 20100205 using random Indev data values as every placed blocked will have a randomised DV from 0 to 7.
Later in Infdev 20100327 with preserved data value transmutation could be used to get a DV 3 sapling by using torches, farmland, wheat, saplings and or furnaces to set the DV of a sapling or leaves. Once set, the world must be updated to a version between Beta 1.5 and 12w03a to then break the leaves to get the sapling.
Natural DV Leaves
Over many versions the leaf decay algorithm has been reworked and with each change came new methods of calculating if a given leaf should decay, all using DVs, using these you can obtain saplings once breaking DV 3, 7, 11 and 15 leaves in Beta 1.5 and beyond.
