Jungle Saplings were added in 12w04a (1.2 snapshot), however its data value was obtainable before this update using glitches making it a recontinued feature. These saplings visually look identical to oak saplings in versions Beta 1.5 to 12w03a. However, they will not stack with them.
Obtaining
In Infdev 20100327, preserved data value transmutation could be used to get a DV 4 sapling by using torches, farmland, wheat, saplings or furnaces to set the DV. Once set, the world must be updated to a version between Beta 1.5 and 12w03a (1.2 snapshot) and then can be collected.
