From 18w47a (1.14 snapshot) to 24w12a (1.20.5 snapshot), every ominous banner generated as a part of the pillager outpost structure will display patterns, unlike the ones obtained from killing patrol captains.
Obtaining
Breaking an ominous banner generated on pillager outposts in the version range this feature was obtainable will drop this discontinued banner as an item. Placed ominous banners will convert to their normal variants after upgrading past 24w12a.
