Banners normally allow only up to six patterns to be applied through the crafting table or loom, but due to a glitch, it is still possible to obtain banners with seven or more patterns. The only normally obtainable banner with this many patterns is the ominous banner.

Obtaining

Loom GUI Glitch

A banner with more than 6 patterns can be obtained due to a bug from 19w02a (1.14 snapshot) to 22w17a (1.19 snapshot).[1] After making a banner with six patterns, the player must select the desired pattern on a second banner with five or fewer patterns. Without taking the second banner out of the right side of the GUI, swap it with the first banner and the pattern will be applied. None of the extra patterns will be displayed in the advanced tooltips. The extra patterns cannot be craftable banner patterns (skull, creeper, flower etc.).

Main Page: Any NBT on Any Item

In 23w13a_or_b, it was possible to craft items with any NBT tags (such as unbreakable, repair cost, enchantments, etc) by enabling the nbt_crafting vote rule. Unfortunately, since compound tags (the item that stores the custom crafted NBT), are an exclusive item to the snapshot, they will be deleted upon updating out of 23w13a_or_b. The ways to counter this are firstly, using the midas_touch vote rule and waiting for the item to be converted into a gold bar, and secondly, using the replace_items vote rule can replace the compound tag in your inventory and still keep the NBT. This can also created overstacked items because compound tags have a stack size of 64, and using the replace_items vote rule does not revert the stack size when items are being replaced. This is also another any NBT on any item method on its own, as certain tags in the NBT of the original item are kept when the item is replaced.

Some cool and interesting applications for this glitch. All these banners have more than six patterns and are normally unobtainable in survival.
