Java Edition:Any Potion Tag on Any Item
From 15w31a (1.9 snapshot) to 16w36a (1.11 snapshot), brewing any potion in a brewing stand with any other items in the other potion slots would add the potion tag to those items. Along with other glitches, this allowed for a large variety of different potion tagged items. Note that this method will remove other NBT data, meaning it can not be a combo with Any Enchantment on Any Item or Nameless Item. From 15w31a to 1.10.2, using this method will also cause items data value to be set to 0. To obtain potion tag on items with data value above 0, this method must be used from 16w32a to 16w36a.
Obtaining
From 12w42a to 1.4 or in 13w01a, the item to be tagged must be placed in brewing stand slots. The methods of placing items into the potion slots of a brewing stand are listed here. Once the item is in the brewing slot, it can then be updated to 15w31a through 16w36a where it will turn into this item by having a potion brewed in one slot while having other items in the other potion slots. Potion Types
Any potion that can be brewed in these versions is able to be applied to these items. This only starts working in 15w31a because that was the version that converted potions to NBT tags, instead of damage values. However, splash potion tag variants and lingering potion tag variants don't work. Here is a list of all available potion tags.
