This article is about log item with ID
log
, used for oak, spruce, birch and jungle logs. For log item with ID log2
used for acacia and dark oak logs, see Invalid Data Value Log2 (Item).Invalid Data Value Logs are logs with a data value between 4 and 15, rather than their usual values of 0-3. Before 12w03a, data value 3 was also invalid as jungle logs were not implemented at this time. These logs were removed in 17w47a (1.13 snapshot).
Obtaining
Block Transmutation
From versions Beta 1.7 to 1.2.3, block transmutation can be used to obtain the 4-15 data values of the logs. Oak logs should be used using water placed in the 3rd-15th positions in the transmutator.
Jungle Logs
If playing before 12w03a, data value 3 (which would later become jungle logs) could also be obtained as an invalid data value by placing water in the 2nd position in the transmutator.
Silk Touch
In 12w30d and 12w30e, using Silk Touch on sideways logs allows the IDVs from 4 to 15 to be obtained.
