Red Flower IDV 15.png

Invalid Data Value Poppies are poppies with data values 9 and above. Normally, they only exist in values 0-8 which are the variants of flowers excluding the dandelion. The block form of the data values, 9-15, was deleted in 14w26a (1.8 snapshot) and the item form of the data values 9-15 was deleted in 17w47a (1.13 snapshot).

Obtaining

First, a player must find a red flower in an Indev version, at the latest Indev 20100223, as red flowers did not generate in the terrain generator in early Infdev. Once a red flower is obtained, the world must be updated to Infdev 20100327, where preserved data value transmutation can then be used to obtain DVs 9-15. The easiest way to do this is to use flint and steel 5-11 times the same block, waiting for it to go out each time. This will set the DV to between 9 and 15. A red flower can then be placed in the same block to get a DV 9-15 red flower. The red flower must then be updated to 13w36a-1 to 14w25b, where it can then be easily collected, obtaining the invalid DVs in your inventory.
