Java Edition:Lit Redstone Ore (Item)
Lit Redstone Ore was added in Alpha v1.0.1, but was not obtainable in item form until Beta 1.6 Test Build 3 with the addition of the debug chests. With the addition of Silk Touch in Beta 1.9 Prerelease 4, it was once again obtainable until Beta 1.9 Prerelease 5, when Silk Touch was then fixed and now drops the regular redstone ore item. This item was removed with the 13w37a snapshot, making it a deleted discontinued feature.
Obtaining
Beta 1.6 Test Build 3 Debug Chests
In Beta 1.6 Test Build 3, any newly generated world would contain up to 11 debug chests with every item in the game. The lit redstone ore item was obtainable in the chests 3rd and 6th from the left in the 16th and 27th slots respectively, in stacks of 64.
Beta 1.9 Prerelease Silk Touch
From Beta 1.9 Prerelease 4 to Beta 1.9 Prerelease 5, Silk Touch was able to be used on lit redstone ore, dropping the lit redstone ore item. This can be done easily by obtaining a Silk Touch pickaxe, activating a redstone ore and mining it.
