Normally, stacked entities can't enter the Nether. However, there have been methods of getting a drowned chicken jockey in the Nether.

Obtaining

Drowned Conversion

From versions 18w11a to 18w16a (1.13 Snapshots), there is chance of a drowned chicken jockey spawning whenever a baby zombie drowns and converts into a baby drowned. If an adult zombie drowns and converts into a drowned, there is a chance of an adult drowned chicken jockey spawning. Stacked entities cannot travel between dimensions as they are unable to enter portals[1].

Drowned chicken jockeys can be obtained in the Overworld and End as water can exist in both dimensions. However, to obtain a drowned chicken jockeys in the Nether, the player must first place water in the Nether before this can be attempted. Zombies are able to travel through portals, however to make this easier the player can place a spawner and then convert it into a zombie spawner with a zombie spawn egg.

This feature requires April Fools' versions which may require file renaming or file deletion to load. See the April Fools' tutorial for more information.

In the April Fools' snapshot 22w13oneBlockAtATime, the player is able to pick up nearly any entity in the game. Picking up these mobs will stack them on top of the players head, each added mob will be riding the mob before it, the player is then able to throw the stacked mobs to let go of them. This can be used to obtain a drowned chicken jockey, however chickens are easily killed doing this so its advised to create a stack of 3 chickens.

The April Fools' version 23w13a_or_b introduced several methods to obtain normally unobtainable features

  • The natural_spawn_replacement vote, when applied, will replace an entities natural spawns with another entity.

The natural_spawn_replacement vote will replace a mobs natural spawns with another mob, so instead of the original mob naturally spawning the replacement mob will naturally spawn instead. If this vote replaces the natural spawn of a Nether or End mob, the drowned chicken jockey has a 0.2375% chance to spawn but this could be increased to a 0.4875% as there is a 5% chance for the baby drowned to check for chickens within a 10×6×10 box centered on its spawn location, spawning on a chicken if one is found.
